Tarot of White Cats (2005) Published by Lo Scarabeo

The Tarot of White Cats is one of my favorite decks, and provides a humorous look at the standard Rider-Waite as it might be viewed from a feline perspective.

The deck is designed as most Lo Scarabeo decks, in terms of size and quality, with six languages included within its white borders. Also typical for Lo Scarabeo decks, the Tarot of White Cats places Justice as trump VIII and Strength at XI. The colors in this deck are gorgeous, with bright reds and blues, jewel tones highlighted by a rich, golden-kitty border.

There are so many cards that I love in this deck, it is hard to narrow it down to just a few. First of all, obviously this is a deck that is all about the CATS, featured on every card and replacing the humans in pretty much standard Rider-Waite structure and imagery. If you compare these cards side-by-side with the Rider-Waite, you will see that this deck is very much a \"clone\" of that popular deck, but with some interesting little touches.

The Fool....is actually a dog (how appropriate!) being nipped by a cat.
In the Strength card, there is a feline crouching bravely inside the open mouth of a lion. One of my favorite cards is Death, which shows the hooded reaper-cat facing away from us, toward stormy waters. Just beneath his cloak, we see the tip of his skeletal tail. Brilliant!
I also love the court cards in this deck....even though all are felines, their facial expressions are very well-executed, and personalities shine through very clearly.

I would recommend the Tarot of White Cats to anyone who loves cats and would like to try a Rider-Waite \"clone\" that offers something a little bit different. It is a fun deck to work with, and reads like a dream.
